How Nada Came to Be: The Story Behind the Name and the Mission
Every great idea starts with a question. For us, it was this: How can we take something as simple as a toothbrush and make it part of the solution instead of the problem?
Toothbrushes are a part of our daily routines, yet millions of them end up in landfills and oceans yearly. Most of us don't think about their impact because they’re invisible once thrown away. But that “out of sight, out of mind” mentality was something we couldn’t ignore. We wanted to create something better—something that didn’t contribute to the mountains of waste our planet is struggling to handle.
And that’s how Nada was born.
Why The Name "Nada"?
In Spanish, "nada" means "nothing," and it perfectly captures the heart of our mission: Nada waste.
At its core, Nada reflects a mindset. It’s about creating products that have minimal impact on the planet and making conscious choices that lead to nothing but positive change. The name also serves as a reminder of what we’re striving for—a world where waste becomes a thing of the past, and sustainability is second nature.
A Big Problem With Small Things
The journey to create Nada started when founder Simon Cooper realized throwing away disposable toothbrushes made no sense. Toothbrush handles should be ketp and reused, not thrown away into landfill or our oceans. Billions of plastic toothbrushes are discarded annually, with the vast majority ending up in landfills or oceans. These little tools may seem harmless, but their environmental impact is staggering.
We realized the design of the toothbrush itself needed to change. Most people are unaware that the handle of their toothbrush can last centuries in the environment. So, we asked ourselves: what if the handle didn’t have to go anywhere at all?
Building a Solution
We started with a simple but bold idea: a toothbrush that lasts. Nada was designed to be durable, beautiful, and sustainable. The handle, made of 100% aluminum, is not only endlessly reusable but also endlessly recyclable. And instead of throwing away the whole toothbrush every few months, we focused on replaceable heads—making it easier to recycle only what’s needed.
We wanted Nada to be more than just an eco-friendly toothbrush; we wanted it to be a symbol of change. A toothbrush isn’t just something you use and forget—it’s a chance to rethink waste, one small decision at a time.
Nada Waste, Everything to Gain
Creating Nada wasn’t just about designing a product; it was about reshaping habits. We believe in small changes that add up to big results. By choosing Nada, you’re saying goodbye to unnecessary waste and hello to a future where sustainability is woven into everyday life.
Our name might mean "nothing," but what Nada represents is everything. It’s a promise to care for the planet, an invitation to think differently, and a way to create a cleaner, healthier world.
