Why We Moved Our Manufacturing to Canada (And What It Means for You)

At Nada, we’re always looking for ways to improve—not just our products but how they’re made. That’s why we made the big decision to move our manufacturing from overseas to Canada. This wasn’t just about changing locations; it was about making a long-term investment in quality, sustainability, and the people who use our products daily.
Switching to local production was a major shift, and like any big move, it came with challenges. But in the end, it was the right decision, and we’re excited to share why this change matters—for us and for you.
Why We Made the Move
When we first launched Nada, our focus was on creating a durable, sustainable alternative to plastic toothbrushes. At the time, manufacturing overseas was the best option to bring our vision to life. We always knew we wanted to move our manufacturing to Canada but initially, it was the only way to bring our product to market with a startup budget.
Here’s what motivated us to bring production home:
1. Higher Quality, Better Craftsmanship
Producing our toothbrushes in Canada means we have more control over every step of the process. From sourcing the aluminum to ensuring every brush head clicks into place perfectly, local production gives us the ability to refine and improve the design.
By working closely with local manufacturers, we’ve been able to enhance durability and precision while staying true to our sleek, minimalist aesthetic.
2. Sustainability at the Core
Nada has always been about reducing waste and creating products that last. Manufacturing overseas meant longer shipping distances, higher carbon emissions, and less control over sustainable sourcing.
By moving production to Canada, we’ve:
✅ Reduced our carbon footprint by cutting down on global shipping.
✅ Sourced materials more responsibly, ensuring ethical production.
✅ Partnered with manufacturers who share our commitment to sustainability.
It’s a shift that aligns with our values and makes a real environmental impact.
3. Responding to Customer Feedback
Our customers have been incredibly supportive of our mission, and we’ve listened closely to your feedback. Some of the most common questions we received were:
-
“Where is my toothbrush made?”
-
“Is Nada committed to ethical production?”
-
“Will you ever manufacture closer to home?”
By moving to local production, we’re able to provide transparency and peace of mind. You can trust that your Nada toothbrush is made under fair labour conditions, using sustainable materials, and with the highest level of craftsmanship.
4. Restocks & New Innovations
If you’ve ever tried to buy a Nada toothbrush stand and found it sold out (sorry about that!), you know how quickly our products move. Ultimately the move to Canada was not without its limitations and manufacturing is a bit slower. Behind the scenes, we are working closely with manufacturers to get your favourite Nada products back in stock.
As we continue to expand our product line with travel cases, toothpaste tablets, and new accessories, having local production allows us to be more innovative while maintaining quality.
What This Means for You
For our customers, this move means a better product, a more transparent process, and a stronger commitment to sustainability. Here’s what you can expect:
✔️ A smaller environmental footprint—because sustainability matters, from production to packaging.
✔️ More accountability & transparency—so you know exactly where and how your toothbrush is made.
At the end of the day, we’re not just making a toothbrush—we’re redefining what a truly sustainable oral care product looks like.
The Future of Nada: What’s Next?
Bringing manufacturing to Canada is just the beginning. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve, whether that’s experimenting with new materials, expanding our product line, or finding even more ways to reduce waste.
We’re incredibly grateful for your support and excited for what’s ahead. If you have ideas, questions, or just want to share your Nada experience, we’d love to hear from you!
